Enemies or Family
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer is a saying that has been going on for a while now. Back in old times and ancient years humans treated each other differently and acted different depending on where you lived. The Bible tells us to love and respect each other and also similar to this view point would be The Tao Te Ching saying you have no enemies because everyone is human. Different from these two perspectives would be how the Greeks and Trojans had treated each their enemies being raised to fight in battle and too kill their enemies. Not every society went on the notion of "help you friends and hurt your enemies" as seen in a few of the texts above.

Author of Tao Te Ching he teaches that everyone should be peaceful with each other "Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world." (TTC 67) This quote explains how humans not only should be caring for their friends but everyone including enemies. Lao Tzu also calls for others to love each other and live a harmonize life "Opening your heart, you become accepted. Accepting the World, you embrace the Tao. Bearing and nurturing, Creating but not owning, Giving without demanding, Controlling without authority, This is love." (TTC 10) The Tao is talking about if humans accept others and keep open hearts people will love each other. This goes under the idea of care for each other similar to the Bible.
Little different from the previous idea of Tao Te Ching but similar would be talking about leaders doing things for others "The Master has no possessions. The more he does for others, the happier he is. The more he gives to others, the wealthier he is." (TTC 81) If a leader does more for others everyone else would be more happy and people may not have enemies any more. They are to honor and fight for family and friends. In The Iliad Achilles wants revenge on Hector for the death of Patroclus " And overpowered by memory both men gave way to grief. Priam wept freely for the man killing Hector, throbbing, crouching before Achilles feet as Achilles wept himself. Now for his father, now sobbing, now for Patroclus once again and their sobbing rose and fell through out the house." (Homer, Iliad 24.595-599) Achilles kills Hector and drags his body around. King Priam father of Hector asks for a time of sorrow. Priam and Achilles cry together even though enemies on the battle field. Trojans and Achaeans do not just go to war to kill but to honor their families and friends. Although they have enemies and sometimes kill them in the battle field, they also are humans and can show care for one
