A Taoist follower would do the exact opposite by finding the good in chaos. Confucianism is directed more so to the life of society. They both have very different views on politics and religion. Confucians set examples for others to follow. While a Taoist, just focuses on living harmoniously and the way of nature. Confucianism is way more structured than Taoism. Confucianism has been the dominant “Teaching,” and Chinese culture is also called a Confucian culture (Na, 2016). The teachings of Taoism are focused on man and nature. The teachings of Confucianism are focused on man and society. Confucianism is an ethical system developed from Confucius, the Chinese philosopher. Confucius became the archetype of a brand of teacher-philosopher known as the “wandering persuader (Berthel, 2017). To sum it up, the core of Confucianism is ethics, humanity and morality. Unlike Taoism, Confucianism believes that knowledge is vital and is they key tool to understanding ethics and morals. They pass on values through thing such as: family, religious organizations and schools. So values would be another distinction. Their goals are different. Taoism’s goal is to gain balance in life. Confucianism’s goal is to gain social harmony. Another difference is how the religions and traditions are passed on. Taoist teaching are passed on using writings and Confucians teachings are passed on using dialogues. Both religions views on after life are very different. Taoist believes that their soul lives on.
