Tarheel Challenge academy is a state organization. This organization is for sixteen through eighteen years old that dropped out or was suspended from school. These students have to willingly want to change their whole life around. This program is to provide teens with skills to get a job and to get a GED. These students are in this program for a total of seventeen and a half months. There are two sections of this program. One section is residential phase and the other section is post residential phase. This program is to help with high school dropouts. Dropouts are prone to be in poverty, getting divorced, receiving public assistance, and to be in prison. Yearly dropouts make an estimate of about seventeen thousand a year. In the prison
