We do this by assisting them with planning for a successful future and to make sure that they have the resources needed to make an impact on the future. Most of our alumni have moved forward to pursue higher learning opportunities, and most have attended college to study STEM-related majors. For example, several of our alumni students are currently studying in a diverse range of majors such as Computer Science, Musical Therapy, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology, and Media Production. Before being involved with our team, many members were unsure about their plans post-high school, but after their experience on team 3883, they gained the resources and the tools to determine their future endeavors after high school. For example, Chris Braun was one of the five students who joined the team when it first started back in 2011. When Chris initially joined the team, he did not have many interests and he was unsure if he wanted to go to college after graduating high school. During his senior year, he ended up having an integral role on the team by overseeing the build sub-team, being a part of the drive team, and serving as the team’s photographer. His experience on team 3883 helped him to develop many interests such as photography and videography. The goal of our team has and always will be to inspire young minds to pursue and further their interests in STEM. After we began our journey into the FIRST world we’ve not only just transformed from a rookie team to a veteran team but we also stepped out of our comfort zone and began to “think outside of the robot” by establishing a presence in the community and extending our creativity into so much more than the robot. The journey for Team 3883 is never-ending, but we are proud of the impact that we have made so far and our journey so far has been
