Elizabeth Kloepfer, now Elizabeth Kendall, was Bundy’s most well-known girlfriend, and she would go on to help police find and arrest him. Bundy met Elizabeth, a single mother who was struggling with alcoholism, in a Seattle bar in 1969 and they began their six-year long relationship. She would report that Bundy was “warm and loving” and took good care of her. Elizabeth became suspicious of Bundy in 1974, but he used his charm to quiet her concerns. Despite this, Elizabeth went to the police multiple times to report her suspicions. The first time, the police did not believe her, so she went for a second time in 1975 with evidence. From his prison cell, Bundy confessed to Elizabeth that he tried to kill her because he couldn’t resist his impulses. She went on to end the relationship and write a book about the experience.
