In this Ted Talk, Julian Treasure claims that we as a people are "losing our listening". He says that we spend roughly 60% of our communication time listening but we only retain 25% of what we hear. We all have our own "sound bubbles" in which we are all paying attention to or listening to our phones, ipods, or ipads and no one is really listening to anyone else. Treasure gives examples of ways we listen such as pattern recognition, differencing, and putting noises into filters.
