Chapter 1: Teen Activism

Teen activist are people who care and people who are not afraid, but brave to stand up for what they believe is right for us. Teen activists are people who want to change the world for the better. They help us get jobs by giving us education. For example Malala is a girl who stood up for girls rights even when people didn’t want her to. Which is why she made her fund called “The Malala Fund.” Teen Activists work hard and speak up. They teach people about what they are doing to help. Then suddenly he looked out the classroom and saw the rebels shooting. He immediately ran into the bush. As he ran he thought if he would ever see his family ever again. As he made it out he met his uncle along the way to Ethiopia. He taught Salva a lot. Then some Newair people came to them and put him up against a tree and shot him. When Salva got to the refugee camp he stayed there for a few years. Then everyone then had to leave and got chased into a river. Salva was lucky to survive getting across, while many others didn’t. He led more than 1,500 lost boys to another refugee camp in Kenya. Someone named Michel at the refugee camp helped Salva learn english. Salva got selected to go to Rochester, New York in America. Where he got an email from his cousin saying that Salva’s Dad was at a clinic in Sudan. Salva flew out to see him and when he got there he found out that his dad was sick from contaminated water he had drunk over the years. After he spent a few days with him he flew back to America.
He then thought about a plan to help people like his dad to make sure they can get clean water so they won’t get sick, so they can be healthy. That’s when his idea became a reality. He created Water For South Sudan. Water for South Sudan is a Foundation where you can donate money to help Salva and his crew raise money to buy outdated equipment and add to the 282 wells already built. Find more about this at
