What is a tooth filling?
A tooth filling is a small restoration designed to restore the health and structural integrity of the tooth after a cavity has formed. A cavity is a small area of decay that is not yet extensive enough to require a dental crown. Typically, cavities can simply be cleaned and filled to restore the health of the tooth.
How do I know if I have a cavity?
Sometimes, areas of decay can be seen just by looking at them. However, much of the time, small cavities are invisible to the naked eye. That is why we employ DIAGNOdent to seek out cavities so we can fill them before they grow into larger problems.
