“Who's there?"Those were the victim’s last words before he was murdered viciously at night in the story called “Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe. After a week of attempting to commit a felony, the narrator killed an innocent old man and concealed his body until he confessed his wrong doings to the authorities shortly after. All this inhumane action was caused just because the murderer loathed the victim’s eye. There are many significant reasons why he should pay for his actions by being held in prison for life instead of being treated in a mental hospital and being called legally insane. According to www.USLegal.com, people that suffer from insanity are subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior. The narrator mentioned multiple times that he was extremely careful with what he was doing when committing the murder. For instance, in the story he says, “Wisely I proceeded - with what caution - and what foresight - with what dissimulation.” An insane person can’t accomplish a murder so organized like this one without losing control. Shortly after he murders the victims he says, “Wise precautions I took for the concealment of the body.” This is when he admits he hid the body under the floorboards. He should definitely pay for his crime by serving lifetime imprisonment instead of being held in a mental hospital getting medication for a condition he doesn't have. Evidence proves that he was extremely careful with his behavior throughout the tragedy, he planned the murder before committing it, and can tell the difference between fantasy from reality.
