Temple Grandin’s Influences
Autism is described as a mental condition characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. Temple was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. Her mother was told to put her in an institution but, she refused and continued to raise temple like she had temple’s siblings. Temple went to boarding school and attended college. She had many obstacles she faced but, she found the resolution to the problem and graduated college with a PhD in animal science from the University of Illinois. An Impact
Temple Grandin has had a powerful impact on the people who took the time to listen to her speak. She has influenced me to believe that you can do anything you can set your mind to. The doctors, when she was at the age of four, did not believe that she could live a regular life and suggested an institution. Although, that was highly suggested by the some of the best doctors her mother refused to believe that she could not live like she did not have autism. She had obstacles throughout high school/boarding school and her mother did not think she could handle it but Dr. Carlock saw something in Temple that no one else did. After boarding school Temple spent the summer at her aunt’s house and fell in love with the cows. She observed the cows everyday she was there.
