The Holocaust means “Sacrifice by fire” (“Introduction to Holocaust”). This is a great meaning for the word Holocaust because it was horrible times for many people. It is not just jews that had it hard, it was also disabled and Roma people. Moreover 400,000 Roma and disabled people died (“Introduction to the Holocaust”). Many people died from the Holocaust in twelve years, from 1933 to 1945.

Ordinarily she had to go and live with her aunt because her grandparents got deported (“Theodora Klayman”). Most people in Theodora’s town knew that the children were Jewish, but they didn’t turn them in (“Theodora Klayman”). Sometimes they would have to stay with their neighbors for a little while. They usually could not leave the house they were staying at because it would draw too much attention. Then the children would have to take a train so they could keep hiding (“Theodora Klayman”).
After the Holocaust for the most part it got better for Theodora. Her and her brother got adopted by their uncle Ljudevit (“Theodora Klayman”). After being adopted Zdravko got sick with scarlet fever. Then Theodora got married to Daniel Klayman in the fall of 1958. Today she has two children and three grandchildren. She worked as a teacher for 30 years, then volunteered at the Holocaust Memorial Museum (“Theodora Klayman”).
In conclusion, Theodora Klayman is a hero. She is a hero to me because she went through so much, and then she still went through and lived her life. She did not just sit around feeling sorrow for herself either, that to me is a
