D. is faced with the difficult news that her baby is diagnosed with what the specialists believe to be thanatophoric dwarfism. When an individual hears that there is a possibility their child might not live past a certain age, the pregnancy becomes very discouraging and traumatic. However, in D.’s case and the case of all pregnant mothers, it is important that they continue on with the pregnancy. When talking about the topic of abortion, a lot of individuals hold different beliefs as to when personhood beings. Thus, these individuals have different ideas as if it is okay or not to abort a baby. This entails that fear plays into almost everything an individual does and it can stop an individual from going through with an act. D. is most likely scared since she has no clue how the outcome of her pregnancy will turn out. Fear is strongly evident in any situation such as this one. However, it is important to remember that running away from the problem is not going to solve it. Also, by terminating the pregnancy because of fear, D. would be sacrificing her child’s life and her time with her future baby. In addition, sanctity of life and quality of life are important in every single individual’s life. So, dignity of life, which entails that life has sanctity because it comes from God and that human life should be enjoyable, is the case for each human. Every single individual should be able to have the opportunity to impact the world for the better, even babies with a terminal disease. A similar situation occurred to a friend of mine, where five months along in the pregnancy, the mother-to-be found out her baby was going to die. The doctor suggested that the best option would be to terminate the pregnancy. However, her and her husband decided against doing so. After getting another doctors opinion on the situation, they were told that the baby was in no harm and was not experiencing any pain inside the mother. So, after a few more months a baby boy named Camden was born. She expressed her happiness for her son and how beautiful of a baby he was. Also, how Camden’s time on earth was filled with joy because he was surrounded by family who loved him. Camden lived for three hours, but they were the happiest three hours of the parent’s lives. Terminating the pregnancy would have taken away that joy and love from both the parents and Camden’s lives. The mother wrote about Camden’s story and shared it through social media to hopefully encourage other mothers in the same situation to never terminate their pregnancies. Camden impacted the hearts of his parents and family members, and hopefully his story will continue to impact and save lives. Therefore, it was important to state this story when deciding what D. should
