The unforgettable character Mrs.Jones mentioned in “ Thank You M’am” by Langston Hughes has an amazing story, Mrs.Jones, an older woman, to go home after a long day at work, but a young, poor boy by the name of Roger attempts to steal her purse in hopes of getting money to buy some blue suede shoes. Instead of taking him to the police, she brings him home and gives him a meal and ten dollars to buy himself the shoes. Mrs. Jones teaches Roger an important lesson to not steal. Mrs.Jones is fearless, strict, yet kind towards Roger.

First of all, Mrs.Jones is a fearless character. For instance when Mrs.Jones was walking home at eleven o’clock at night (line 3). Therefore Mrs.Jones is fearless enough to show that she can walk home on the dangerous streets by herself. In fact, when the boy attempts to steal Mrs.Jones’s pocketbook she was not scared of him, and she “kicked him in the blue jean sitter” (line 9). So, Mrs.Jones was fearless enough to not care who she was kicking, but decided to defend herself. Truly, Mrs.Jones was not afraid to bring Roger into her home (line 45-47). This shows, how fearless Mrs.Jones is by bringing a stranger, theft into her own home. As a result, Mrs.Jones clearly shows how fearless of a character she is.
