Introduction The American holiday of Thanksgiving, which is often portrayed as a peaceful gathering of Pilgrims and Native Americans, has a long history of appropriation on destruction of indigenous folk traditions. Despite efforts to present a more accurate story, the widely held Thanksgiving myth continues, promoting harmful stereotypes and erasing indigenous peoples' true experiences. This essay will look at the origins of Thanksgiving, analyze its appropriation and portrayal, and propose ways to restore the truth to this tradition.

This can include advocating for policy changes that respect indigenous sovereignty and assisting with efforts to improve access to healthcare and education in indigenous communities (Salaky, 2023). Other Outcomes of Continued Appropriation: While confronting and addressing the problematic aspects of Thanksgiving's historical narrative is essential, it is also important to recognize the holiday's evolution and the variety of ways in which it affects today's society. Thanksgiving has evolved into a symbol of unity, gratitude, and familial togetherness that connects deeply with people of all cultural backgrounds. However, as it evolves, it is critical to embark on the journey of decolonizing Thanksgiving by acknowledging and correcting historical injustices against indigenous peoples.
