The series of events that led to the American Revolution were truly unfortunate, and yet debatably insignificant in the grand scheme of things. That, however, did not stop the colonists from lashing out and starting a war that would eventually become amongst the most remarkable of its kind. It began when the British government enacted the 1765 Stamp Act which placed a stamp on certain good such as paper, newspapers, playing cards, and other goods. This stamp required that a separate tax be paid when purchasing these goods which would go towards repaying the debts which accumulated during the Seven Years War.
