The 1920’s were known as the “Roaring Twenties” in America. It is remembered as the era of unprecedented affluence of the Ford model T, Babe Ruth, and nights at the “speakeasies”. The 20s were also a time where the average “joe” could indeed invest his small fortune into the stock market and become a millionaire almost overnight. This was a period of wealth and excess. With the post-war optimism spiraling through the air, many rural Americans left their farms and migrated to the cities were it seemed there were great hopes of finding a more prosperous life guaranteed. Unknowingly they didn’t know this would be one of the major factors that lead them to such a financial depression with the crash of the stock market to come.
