Think about all the unfortunate events you’ve dealt with in your life time. You got yourself through it and there is a reason for that. Our bodies have adapted to these situations to make us stronger. Humans are resilient and figure out ways to cope with difficulty or trauma. In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Junior faces a lot of obstacles and he has to learn to adapt to all the loss he suffers through laughter and denial. For example, junior states “But if I kept being an idiot, if I didn’t actually accept the truth, then the truth would become false (Alexie 201).” This shows that Junior tried to fight an obstacle by denying the validity of the situation. In addition, the same day this happened, I wasn’t feeling good so, I decided to take a nap and give myself a break. This shows that people need a break from their own thoughts to be able to come back with a new perspective. This is because if you think about something for too long, you’ll end up reading more into the situation than there needs to be. Furthermore, that entire day all I wanted to do was to be alone.
