This was a war between the North and South. The North wanted the states in the westward expansion to be free states, meaning there would be no slavery. The South was the exact opposite they wanted them to be slave states. The presidential election in 1860 brought up a lot of problems. Abraham Lincoln was elected and he was against slavery. This infuriated the South especially North Carolina. After Lincoln was elected North Carolina decided to secede. After that the first shots of the Civil War were fired. This caused four states to secede as well. This is one of the most costly wars on U.S soil but, finally after 4 years the South surrendered. I feel that this is an important event because slavery is such a terrible thing that it needed to end.
The Louisiana Purchase was an important event in American History. It almost doubled the size of America. In 1803 the French needed some money so they went to President Jefferson and gave an amazing deal. For a small price of 15 million dollars the French would give them over 828 million square miles of land. This created about 15 of our states. The land stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, down to the Gulf of Mexico, and up to the border of Canada. I believe this is an important event in history because without it who knows if would've ever gotten all this
