In the story, he regretted his decision to cut the fishing line and set the bass free. He chose Sheila over the fish but that was a big mistake. He knew that Sheila hated fishing, so in order for her to like him, he thought he needed to get rid of the bass. He thought this would make her like him more but he was definitely wrong. Sheila ended up dumping him in the end, so sadly he lost both of his loves. He was also trying to be who he thought she wanted him to be. He thought maybe she would make him popular. He was mistaken. The biggest bass he’d ever hooked, gone. I can relate to the narrator’s feelings of regret. I regret going to the first varsity football game of the season last Friday. My friend who was supposed to go with me bailed at the very last minute. It was so humiliating. I stood at the game by myself the entire time. Then, I went to the back-to-school dance. It was a waste of my five dollars. I ended up leaving the dance very shortly after I arrived because everyone I walked there with left me as soon as we walked in the door. Overall, it was a terrible night for me and I wish I had just stayed
