The Beatles not only had a huge impact on listeners in the United Kingdom and America, but also those in the Soviet Union. Although their music was banned, fans in the Soviet Union found ways to listen to the Beatles, even if it meant they could possibly be arrested. The Soviet authorities believed that the music of the Beatles encouraged listeners to not believe in communist ideals, in fact, some would even say their music contributed to the collapse of communism. For Soviet fans, the music of the Beatles gave them hope and encouraged them to take part in a forward-thinking mindset and think of themselves as free individuals. One reason why the Beatles became so popular and in return produced a generation of forward-thinkers in the Soviet Union is because the Soviet youth were led to believe that the Beatles music was terrible. The Soviet youth were told that the Beatles music was horrible and decadent. However, when they listened, they found their music to be beautiful and energetic, which led to the Soviet youth continually listening and telling others about the wondrous music of the Beatles. …show more content…
In 1988, Paul McCartney released an album titled CHOBA B CCCP, which translates to Back in the U.S.S.R. Again. The album consisted of McCartney's favorite songs from the 1950s.
