Paul, at age fifteen, and John, eighteen were introduced by Ivan Vaughn a mutual friend of both boys. John and the band were impressed with Paul’s talent on the guitar. He joined The Quarrymen in 1957. George played a song at The Moore Club in Old Swan District while The Quarrymen watched. A few days later, John and Paul invited George to play with the band. In 1960, Ringo Starr united with The Quarrymen for the first and only time. Ringo only performed with them once until they met up again later on.
After leaving The Quarrymen in 1960, John, Paul, and George formed the band, Johnny and the Moondogs to perform in a talent search event. They qualified for the finals in Manchester, but could not afford to stay overnight and had to head back to Liverpool before their turn was up.
