The Differences
Two very different pieces of writing but at the same time very similar, sometimes the similarities are easily seen but sometimes not easily seen. Maybe even the similarities are brushed off as coincidences; some of the similarities are weak or strong. I will be writing about some of these “coincidences.”
The first thing I am going to talk about is a similar object, which appears in both stories. Friends, this is a theme in both stories. The Boar Hunt starts out with friends “We were four Companions.”. The time period/ the era. At first I didn’t know if this could hold as a good point , but I soon found it was actually pretty interesting. In each of the stories you can pick up subtle hints about what period is in. In delicious death, it’s way more modern “We walked into Thrifty’s to buy to buy the bullets” Now stores have been around for a while but Thrifty’s is a more 20th century thing. How can I know that? “Not being Englishman” Englishman, now I bet your thinking what’s so big about this word Englishman. Back when England wasn’t just an island but a major power {It was the biggest in land size}. The British Empire had a quote “The sun never sets on the British Empire.” I don’t even need to explain that quote. But being a Englishman was a status symbol. “We did not play cards” Now cards are still popular these days but it was a much popular thing back in the olden days, what also piqued my interest was “We had three faithful oarsmen.” Who rows a boat anymore? Most people have gone to higher technologies even in the jungle
