The crime has been committed to 7 people throughout the film. Amelia and Rhyme were forced to make ethical decisions in order to prevent the crime from happening again. Many clues such as the puzzles, maps and photos which Rhyme put together were used to symbolise the location of murders and where the crime would lead to. False herrings such as Howey being an arrogant man led the viewer to think that he would be the final killer. Danger and conflict is always in favor of Rhyme as he has been in an accident which caused him to become paralysed unable to explore the crime himself. Thus Amelia is used to support him in his detective career. Amelia is also faced with danger and conflict as she gets traumatised when entering the slaughterhouse especially when gender is mentioned.
