The Boston Massacre occurred after the colonists started heckling a local British soldier, causing more soldiers to come to his defense. During the altercation, a soldier’s weapon went off which resulted in a minor battle killing five people and wounding eight. This caused Parliament to abolish everything but the tea tax to maintain the peace. They also pulled their soldiers out of town and allowed them to be stationed nearby to patrol.
