They both are strong and independent women. Belicia was a tough kid even when she was in school. “By the end of her second quarter, Beli could walk down the hall without fear that anyone would crack on her” (83). This sentence shows us how tough Belicia was. We could infer from the sentence that kids picked on her in the beginning, but Belicia wasn’t easily defeated. They knew what they wanted and they didn’t need anyone to manipulate their lives. They were both pretty, attractive, and rebellious in nature. There could be another mirror image that I hope to find an answer in the later chapters. La Inca was such an important character in the book because she was the connection of the past and present, and she could have been the changing point of the characters. When Lola was with La Inca, did she transformed or was she still a bad girl? If she transformed, then it would not be a mirror image.
