The Chumash primary food source was wildlife and sea animals. For successful hunts, they were reliant on their tools and inventions. With their tools and weapons they hade advantage even though the animal was bigger or faster. The Chumash would use tools such as spears, bows, fishnet, fish hooks and sandpaper to make the weapons more effective. For the aquatic animals, they would go out on canoes and catch the fish with fishnets or hooks. If the animal was bigger, such as a shark or a seal, they would use a more vicious choice of weapon.
