Caldwell also added a squeaky laugh at the end of each of her lines to depict Miss Patt as the type of person who is always joyful. However, Caldwell quickly changed her voice to a serious, deep, demanding tone to showcase her character’s true self, and to expose the high-pitched, cheerful personality of Miss Patt, as phony. Next, Caldwell’s body language flawlessly illustrated the emotions of her characters. For example, in act two, scene nine, Caldwell played a famous performer, Lala, and her use of body language brought the character to life. When Caldwell walked on stage, she had a smile plastered on her face, her head was held high, her posture was perfect, and she strutted with poise. All of Caldwell’s physical choices allowed her character to radiate confidence. Caldwell’s body language progressed throughout the scene, when her character found out she had a child. Caldwell
