THE SHIP THAT PLAYED CRITICAL ROLE IN NUCLEAR ATTACK OF WW-II HAS BEEN FOUND RECENTLY, 72 YEARS AFTER IT SANK
In a recent wake of events, researchers have found USS Indianapolis which was sank by Japanese torpedoes in Philippine Sea, just after it delivered components of atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II.
The research team was lead and funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen who retrofitted research vessel (R/V) Petrel and made it capable of deep diving ocean up to a depth of 3.5 miles. The wreckage was found at a depth of 5500 meters from surface in Pacific Ocean.
