The context of “Inside the American Mob” give a personal look into the rise and fall of La Cosa Nostra, or the American Mob during the 1970’s. It was founded by a man named Giuseppe Esposito also known as Charles Lucky Luciano. In 1931 he took 5 separate street gangs and united them to turn them into the five families of the modern mafia still known today: Gambino, Colombo, Bonanno, Genovese, and Lucchese. This episode introduces the Colombo family and breaks down the interworking of each family. It also begins the story of two completely different men on the same journey of entering the American Mafia.
