For example, The Puritans society disliked the ways of the Quakers, because the Quakers believed that God could speak to them and communicate through people for him. Subsequently, the Quakers refused to submit to the hierarchy of church government. The Puritans, on the other hand, believed that God communicated only through his ordained ministers of the church.
