This quote describes Abigail Williams in The Crucible by Arthur Miller in many ways. The Crucible is a play that takes place in Salem Massachusetts and is about a girl named Abigail Williams who uses the assumption of witchcraft to power a scheme of lies to get John Proctor. Moreover, since Abigail Williams is motivated by her undying love for John Proctor, her decisions to cry witchery on Goody Proctor and to drink blood to kill Goody Proctor. Causes a web of lies to spread all about Salem which causes many to die by the end of the play.

This can be shown through this quote. “I have been hurt, Mr Danforth; I have seen my blood runnin’ out! Think you to be so mighty that the power of hell may not turn your wits? Beware of it!” (108). In the beginning, she starts out one step above Tituba, she is an orphaned teenage girl. Who has a bad reputation around town by her former employer; Elizabeth Proctor. By act three, Abigail is the leader of the children, powerful enough to threaten Danforth, the deputy governor of the province and able to get away with it. This quote shows that Abigail threatens the highest power in the court. She says if he crosses her she will accuse him of witchcraft. Although later it is discovered that she ran away with Mercy Lewis and stole all of Parris’s money. But those she accused still were to hang because her power was still too
