Technology is everywhere. We use technology in our everyday life. It can do a lot of good and it can also do a lot of harm. With so many forms of technology right at our fingertips we can do amazing things. We use it for our school work, cooking, and communicating. All of these advancements come at a price. Teenagers can use these forms of technology to cyberbully. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. (1) This has become a widespread problem in the United States.

Cyberbullying is another form of bullying that can happen anywhere. Even when a teenager is at home they can be bullied. This can happen through any form of technology. Cell phones, computers, and tablets are the main tools used for cyberbullying. Examples of cyberbullying are harassing someone on online, sending mean messages, and spreading rumors.

Everyone is at risk of being bullied.

When people use the tools they have been given to harm others social media becomes a bad thing. The effects of cyberbullying are similar to the effects of bullying. Children and teens who are cyberbullied often skip school, experience normal bullying, receive poor grades, and have lower self-esteem. Some, as a result of cyberbullying, turn to drugs and alcohol. Many children and teens don’t feel like they can tell anyone that they are being cyber bullied because they are embarrassed and are afraid they will be bullied even more. This results in unhappiness and depression. Without the help of the others the bullying won’t go away. “We need to teach our children that silence, when others are being hurt, is not acceptable.” (2) Parents need to constantly be aware of their children and their interactions online. Children can’t let the cyberbullying affect them. If the bullies don’t get any response from you they will eventually stop. Always remember that whatever they are saying to you isn’t
