Many animals are endangered because of this selfish action. In an article titled The Effects of Littering on the Environment & Animals it explained all the human made products harm our environment “Plastic waste, water pollution, soil runoff, and jars and bottles make up just a few of the human-made products and byproducts that can harm the Earth and the species that live on it” (Irving). Clearly litter is a problem everywhere it ends up in oceans and many other places where it shouldn’t be. It’s a foreign object in a place where it did not originate from. It causes way more damage than people think. The article also shared some other information “The damage can be physical six-pack rings strangling marine life-or chemicals- fertilizers causing algal blooms- but in either case, they can cause lasting damage to flora and fauna of an area” (Irving). The objects causing the damage are all man-made and do more damage than what people are aware of. While Idaho is not close to any oceans, people assume that they aren’t responsible for that pollution. Yet, Idaho is still a very scenic state with lakes, rivers, forests etc. and they have animals living there, it’s their home that is getting damaged. When plastic and trash isn’t properly decomposed it finds a way to end up in the ocean. The damage has already been done. But is it preventable and …show more content…
There has also been many forest fires here in Idaho. Forest fires can be caused naturally by lighting and they shouldn’t be as common as they are, but they are common only because humans are the leading cause of forest fires. According to an article titled What’s the Leading Cause of Wildfires in the U.S? Humans it stated, “Fire ecologist Melissa Forder says about 60 percent of fires in national parks are caused by humans: "intentionally set fires, buildings burning and spreading into the forest, smoking, equipment malfunctions and campfires” (Joyce). Wildfires are a pretty common event here in Idaho. Idahoans need be careful because camping and other outdoor activities are common. The more people that are outdoors then the more trash there can be left lying about. If a fire were to start then that trash could make the fire worse than what it’s naturally supposed to be like paper, cardboard etc. The NPR also informed that “As a result, Balch says, not only are people causing the vast majority of wildfires, they’re also extending the normal fire season around the country by three months” (Joyce). Fires can start from many things but there are people who go out to the mountains and smoke. When a cigarette is not properly disposed it can cause a fire. Forest fires are a hassle to put out and they leave consequences when they’re put out. As said before forest fires are common
