The family relations in The Death of Ivan Ilyich were very inconsiderate and deteriorated. Ivan was miserable, and he wanted his family to suffer with him. His wife becomes more and more querulous and ill-tempered, but the attitude Ivan Ilyich had adopted towards his home life rendered him almost impervious to her grumbling (750). The couple was very angry and mad at the world. Fedorovna blamed her husband for everything that malfunctioned in their home. The couple were concerned with their children’s education and spoke of it often, but those conversations lead to disputes (750). People without jobs felt ennui, and Ivan began to feel that way. Ivan tried other measures to prevent from going into a depression (751).
