One thing I found interesting in the documentary was that at the age of sixteen they allow the kids to start going out and partying. The parties they had were not mellow either, they had sometimes thousands of people at them and had alcohol and drugs. I think that’s insane that this is something that they do. Whether or not this is true, I think it was with this case. If they would’ve chosen to buy into it or not. Some of the people in the Documentary really struggled with it. The main guy who the film was focused on was the one who struggled the most. He was addicted to meth and finally quit. He was to the point where he had people at his home and he was thinking they were going to shoot him through the window. Many of the children said they really enjoyed the freedom of living alone. When you are Amish you are all together with your family and have a lot of restrictions so this was an issue for many of them. They wanted to do more with their life than the Amish lifestyle offers. There was one girl in the film who decided to not stay Amish. She ended up getting into a college and that was a really big deal for her. She said her parents didn’t directly tell her they were happy about it, but she said she could tell they
