Luther objected vigorously to the practice of selling indulgences as he believed it was corrupt and believed and was committed he idea that only through faith and divine grace salvation could be reached. He wrote and nailed the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church acting on his belief “The 95 theses” also known as the “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences,” a list of questions and propositions for a debate.
