Everything we do has a purpose to the actions we make. The study of mind and behaviour has always captivated me by mechanism of mental processes and interactions that human behaviour uses leading the assumptions and psychological approaches. Being a follower of Islam, it has highly influenced my interest, as the religion itself is very self-controlled. We have to continually check our actions against our intentions. Psychologist's explanation for behaviour and development has always challenged my way of thinking; motivating me to pursue this subject at a degree level.

Although the book is very stereotypical, it questions the reader to put it to real life context, surprisingly some of the messages put through were true. The book links in with another one of my other subjects, sociology, discussing how we are socialised into our gender identities. I have taken up the whole A-level of Sociology to complete in one year to prove my dedication and motivation to overcome any challenge, by giving me a grasp of time management and exceptional organisation skills. Sociology has helped me to distinguish between different theoretical perspectives on how society functions. It has also given me an understanding of how particular institutions such as family, can impact behaviour of an individual.

To widen my experience and understanding of Psychology beyond the classroom I have volunteered at Owlsmoor After School Club for 6 months, working with kids from the ages of 4-12 year olds. This has enabled me to witness some of the child psychological behaviour, for example Bandura's study of imitation aspects were shown through use of language and actions.
