The overabundance of burmese pythons have created many dangers to the local animals in the area.The burmese pythons are a threat to the natural animals local to the Everglades. For example, in the newspaper article, Florida’s Python Hunt, it states that, “With no natural predators, these eating machines appear to be wiping out huge numbers of opossums, racoons, and bobcats, as well as many bird species.” Their method on how to kill their prey is pretty brutal. Not only did the overabundance affect the local animals, but it also affected the people. In the first place, these proud owners of Burmese pythons are the problem. Many of those owners bought the pythons without even researching them. Such as, not researching the habitat they live in, nor what food they eat. The result of these senseless actions is as they get bigger the owners let them loose out into the wild, which is the worst solution you could come up with, as they are not native to that habitat you let them loose in. As more and more pythons got released into the wild, a contest on who can kill the most pythons was created. As it states in Florida's Python Hunt, “...the challenge is to hunt and kill Burmese pythons, with a grand prize of $1,500 awarded to the hunter who kills the most pythons...” The people who organized this challenge may have thought it was a good idea, but it isn't as simple as you would think. It could be very dangerous, since the Burmese pythons are really big and can get people hurt.
