Evangelicalism is a movement of confessional believers who are determined by God’s grace to conserve this faith in the face of its reduction or corruption even as they gladly take this gospel to the ends of the earth in order to see the nation exult in the name of Jesus Christ.
This review will look at four evangelical movements as discussed in the lecture textbook. The four evangelical spectrums are fundamentalism, confessional evangelicalism, generic and post-conservative evangelicalism. Because of the rise in liberal theology. Evangelicals deem it fit to maintain a clear and unquestionable commitment to the theological belief that is true and to oppose liberalism in all forms. therefore, some reputable scholars and teachers began to start revival movement that will shape the cause of the gospel for decades to come. An example of people that pioneered this movement is Billy Graham, Harold John Ockenga, E J Carnell and other numerous scholars who engaged in spreading the new movement through the establishment of publishing houses and seminary colleges.
- The phenomenological definition of confessional evangelicalism is rooted in observation. In terms of descriptive observation, David Bebbington gave a four clear view of the core values of confessional evangelicalism. They are Conversionism- the belief that lives needs to be changed through interaction with people, Biblicalism -a particular stress regards for the bible, crucicentrism - a stress on the sacrifice of the Christ on the cross and activism describes the tendency toward active expression and sharing of the gospel in diverse ways that include preaching and through social
