The community was a complete and total failure and was a definite disgrace to all of social science and its studies due to the fact that the community’s main goal was to control all of its residents and their actions. The community’s main goal was supported by three main pillars; sameness of surroundings, controlled releases, and the suppression of what the community called “stirrings”. The community went about this by issuing pills and other medications that would give them the desired results.
In the beginning of the construction of the community, they switched over to a concept called sameness, which is the idea that everything is generic, and without any personal identification or distinction. Under sameness, all buildings are uniform, there are no hills, lakes, or valleys and there is no color. Everyone is also issued the same clothing, food, and bicycles. The reasons that drove the community to sameness are that they wanted complete unity under their all controlling power, that and slight individuality was unacceptable, and that sameness creates less problems for them to take care of. The community’s efforts in this area were wasted due to the fact that it shortened the lifespan of its workers and there was no natural deaths. In fact, a release could be detrimental to the community because a release is death. Part of the reason why this was the community’s failure is because the bodies of those who were released were put in boxes and thrown away like trash, which could in turn anger residents and further deviation. In order for the community to become a success there would need to be a large amount of improvement done in this
