The lesson that the audience have learned regarding Gatsby and his infatuations with the green light was that is was a symbol. A symbol of his feelings and his goal that one day he dreams to accomplish. This symbol relates to the American Dream because there are most people that immigrates to America to accomplish a goal, that is to succeed in life by making a fortune and becoming wealthy. In Gatsby’s perspective his goal was to have Daisy, but with all that focus on having Daisy makes him to neglect others such as his parents and caring for himself and not others.

As said in theme one “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreat back into their money or their vast carelessness”(Fitzgerald pg.179). This quote reflects the real world because it tells us the truth, most upper-class people do tend for themselves and not other. That doesn't mean everybody that is rich care for themselves and not others, it just explains how most upper-class acts towards each other and to the lower class. In theme number two "She's not leaving me!" Tom's words suddenly leaned down over Gatsby”(Fitzgerald 7.251). This quote reflects the real world because it shows us that Daisy is leaving Tom for Gatsby because she is tired of Tom cheating on her constantly. What’s even better is that Tom is doesnt even care how Daisy feels, causing her wanting to leave
