Change, a word used in a variety of different ways, but I believe it is mainly for people who have overcome a rough patch in their life. This term can be used to describe Linus’s journey from his old life to his new life. Throughout the novel Linus shows moments where he is mentally tough, he has to endure the rough patches. In The House in The Cerulean Sea, TJ Klune gives opportunities to Linus where he can choose to change or stay the same. When Linus leaves his ordinary, regular home, little does he know this journey will change his life. He will meet people and mentors who bring out the real Linus. The Ordinary World is disrupted by Linus’ call to adventure, which causes Linus to be unprepared. When Linus meets with Extremely Upper Management he is given a job where he has to leave to an island far away so he can report back to Extremely Upper Management. …show more content…
Linus reacts to this by “Why me?” he asked in a voice barely above a whisper. “Because there is really no one else we can trust” (Klune 43), she answeredThis quote implied that Linus is the best man for the job. Out of everyone, he must be the best case worker available. But this is a new experience for Linus, he hasn’t had to work on a case like this ever before. The stakes are high, this case involves death and sacrifice, something that Linus has not experienced before. This puts Linus in a situation that is far from normal. Linus is making the transition from his ordinary job to something much more difficult. After this, Linus then gets on a train and leaves his town, which he never does.
