Behind every title, there is always a meaning. It may not be so evident at first, but it will always be there. In the case of The House of the Scorpion, the title is only evident once the book has been read. The book is called The House of the Scorpion because the scorpion is the emblem of the Alacran Family. The scorpion is used to represent the Alacran family because in Durango, where the family is originally from, everyone is called a scorpion because the people of the town are always scurrying around and there were so many of them. Although this is the meaning described in the book, if you look deeper in the scorpion emblem and the true meaning of it, there is much more.
