The American Dream is an insult to millions around the world. The House on Mango Street written by Sandra Cisnero is about a young hispanic girl and her poor family. She lives in a poor Chicago neighborhood. The obstacles to the American Dream are language barriers, homesickness, and the lack of money.
First and foremost, not being able to speak the language of the country you’re in can be an extreme struggle. To explain, when you don’t speak the language of the country you’re in it can be hard communicate. As the text says, “My father says when he came to this country he ate hamandeggs for three months.
