The Scarlet Ibis exemplifies an imperfect bond between Doodle and Brother which teaches readers about the importance of brotherhood. Naturally Doodle looks up to his brother like any younger sibling would do. For example Brother says, “Doodle was my brother and he was going to cling to me no matter what I did”. This was why Brother continued to drag Doodle along with him to the Old Woman Swamp because Doodle just wanted to go everywhere with Brother and do everything that Brother did. Throughout the story Brother pushes Doodle to achieve unrealistic goals like learning how to walk. For instance Brother said “Aw come on Doodle, you can do it. Do you want to be different from everybody else when you start school”? “Does it make any difference”?,
