He had fought in every kind of battle from the smaller skirmishes to full-scale war. His leadership and his courage earned him the legendary title of Achilles. He got that name because of a willingness to die on the front line and take risks that turned the tide of battle on more than one occasion. Like in the story of Achilles, Dan’s life balanced on the edge of a knife one fateful day. He narrowly escaped death when his unit’s vehicle hit an IED. His vertebrate suffered a severe injury that forced his hand.
For Dan he loved serving others in the military and keeping the folks back home safe, but his time had come to an end. When Dan was flown back home, the weight of his situation became more apparent. He either continued on behind a desk or retire. After climbing the ranks to Infantry Army Ranger Major, Dan’s military service had come to an end.
