When amir and Baba move to america Baba sacrifices everything he had in afghanistan for Amir. Baba gave up everything he had back in Afghanistan to go to america so that Amir could fulfil his dream of becoming a writer. Baba went from a very well known and wealthy person to a poor very unknow person in america. “Besides I didn't bring us here for me, did I?” (Hosseini, 2003, Pg 130) This is saying that if Amir didn't want to pursue a job in writing they would most likely have never came to America. He had sacrificed his life and everything he had back in america to go and save this little boy. “I remember he said to me, ‘Rahim, a boy who can’t stand up for himself becomes an man who can't stand up for anything.” (Hosseini, 2003, Pg 221) This quote also explains this claim because able to do something to stand up for what he believer and that he is able to do thing for people besides himself.
