Atonement is a concept where someone is looking for redemption after they have performed or had been involved in a sinful act. For example, in the novel The Kite Runner the main character Amir was haunted by a sinful memory from the past and so he wants to atone for his sins. Even though I've done some minor wrongdoings in the past, such as light cursing, however it is such a minor act of sin that it is hard to relate atonement to my life. Compared to Amir's sin my example of a wrongdoing does not really meet the requirement to go into extend to make amends. Amir's sin is that he saw Hassan, Hazara of his household and a friend, get sexually assaulted, and he had a choice to do the right thing, however, he did not do it, instead he ran back
