Dr. George Wilson graduated from the University of Iowa in 1969, here he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He moved to Forest City, Iowa that same year and began practicing as an associate in another doctor's dental clinic. He worked in this doctors practice for 17 years before they had a conflict between them about the growth of the practice as well as George having over double the production of his boss. Since he had never signed a no-compete clause, he decided that it was time to part ways and try it on his own. So, he quit his job in pursuit of this.
After living in Forest City for 17 years Dr. George had built up a solid reputation in the community. This benefited him when he went to the bank who gave him a $110,000 loan to help him start his new dental practice. With the help of this loan, he was able to move into a building and begin practicing on his own terms. This was the beginning of Wilson Dental. The staff of the first practice he was at followed him to Wilson Dental as they believed in what he was doing more than their old boss. George and his associate, Dr. Scott, are both general dentists. This means that they provide a little bit of everything when it comes to dental work. This is nice because a lot of times patients can be treated on sight. Dr. George said this includes things such as your common fillings which they offer composite and amalgams (silver filling) to things such as periodontics where they can help people to a certain extent that have periodontal disease. Dr. Georges specialty that he has become known for is root canals. He said that before they had a root canal specialist in the area all dentists within a large radius would refer patients to him to have root canals done. This is something even today that he prides himself on being good
