The following day Patroclus was killed and stripped of the armor by the Trojan hero Hector who mistook him for Achilles. Overwhelmed by rage and grief Achilles received new armor from his mother and returned to fighting to kill Hector. At Hectors final face off with Achilles, dead in front of the wall of Troy, Achilles slays Hector with what seemed like taunting play rather than even a slight match for the semi-devine god.
